Paul McCartney #OutThere, Nashville, Tennessee

Paul McCartney — “Out There
Bridgestone Arena — Nashville, Tennessee
Thursday, October 16, 2014

All I can say is, “What a show!” Paul and the band opened with “Magical Mystery Tour” and closed the second encore with 3 of the last 4 tracks from Abbey Road: “Golden Slumbers”, “Carry That Weight”, “The End”. In between they played Beatles, McCartney, and Wings tunes1 spanning 1963 “All My Loving,” “I Saw Her Standing There” to the present–they played four tracks off Paul’s 2013 release “NEW”: “Save Us”, “Queenie Eye”, “NEW”, “Everybody Out There”. (I wish they’d have played “Appreciate” off the NEW cd, but hey–who’s complaining?)

They played the hits, and played some–well–I don’t think it’s accurate to label any Beatles song as “obscure,” but, well, you know what I mean.

All told, the show lasted damn near 3 hours. And, despite the fact that we had a drunken jerk sitting behind us who felt compelled to pepper the show with eardrum-splintering whistles, drunken shouts of “Rock and Roll, Paul,” and loud god-awful sing-alongs (hello–handle your high…), we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Jeez! What a show!

yeah, in a minute…
